Hormonal balance

The human body produces up to 20 different types of hormones. Hormones are substances produced by the endocrine glands that are released into the blood for a balanced life of the body. Hormones are released into the blood in small quantities, and remain active for a long time. The bloodstream carries them throughout the body, where they participate in metabolic processes, regulate the growth and development of the body, and maintain homeostasis. With a lack of some, or an excess of other hormones, various disorders, ailments and diseases occur. First of all, the immune system – the defense of our body – suffers.

The practice of yoga https://www.julianalucky.com/ will not solve serious hormonal abnormalities. Asana is not a pill for some ailment. But! By doing yoga regularly, you can keep your hormonal levels within normal limits, and improve your condition with a slight imbalance.

The following set of exercises allows you to work out the main “zones” of influence on the endocrine glands, keeps the whole body in good shape and has a general strengthening effect not only on the hormonal background, but also on the immune system.

Note! If you have Hyperthyroidism, namely, an increased content of hormones T3 and T4, then the following set of exercises is CONTRAINDICATED for you! You should exclude from practice inverted asanas that increase blood circulation in the thyroid gland, as well as breathing techniques – Kapalbhati, Bhastrika and the like, since in Hyperthyroidism the tone of the sympathetic department of the nervous system is increased. Parasympathetic techniques can help improve the condition: Shavasana, Yoga Nidra, Bramari breathing technique.

For those who do not have clear signs of thyroid dysfunction, we suggest the following exercises:

Start your class with breathing practices: Bhastrika or Kapalabhati. They can be done standing or sitting. Do three Kapalabhati cycles of 60-108 counts and/or 3-5 Bhastrika cycles of 10-15-20 breaths (depending on your experience). After each cycle of Bhast

rika, Nauli can be performed while holding the breath after exhalation.

Continue the practice with three cycles of Surya Namaskara. Breathe in the breath of Ujjai.

In the main set of exercises, do several power asanas: any variations of Virabhadrasana on both legs, Uthita Hasta Padangushthasana, Navasana, Chaturanga Dandasana, Purvatanasana, Bakasana. Alternate power poses with gentle twists that improve peristalsis, such as variations of Marichiasana. Add deflections in the chest: Bhujangasana, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, Ushtrasana. And a powerful traction of the spine – Shashankasana (rabbit).

Finish active practice with inversion postures that stimulate blood flow to the throat: Salamba Sarvangasana, Halasana, Karna Pidasana. Support your back with your hands, and make sure that the weight of the body remains more on the shoulders, and the neck – without too much pressure.

One of the most frequent and implicit causes of hormonal disorders is constant emotional overstrain and chronic stress. The practice of Shavasana and Yoga Nidra contributes to the normalization of the central nervous system tone and the alignment of the psycho-emotional background. Therefore, at the end of any yoga session, Shavasana is recommended, a posture of maximum relaxation and conscious recovery. While in this asana, mentally check the body for any new or unusual sensations. And, of course, try to relax as much as possible …

Practice yoga, enjoy life and be healthy!

Note. The effectiveness of yoga for dealing with hormonal imbalances should not be overestimated. Do not neglect the appeal to specialists and drug treatment.
